MALTA APPROVES CASINO CRUISES
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has approved the first application for a casino cruise liner received from Crystal Cruises Malta - Casino operations
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has approved the first application for a casino cruise liner received from Crystal Cruises, which is represent- ed in Malta by Gollcher Group, for its award-win- ning Crystal Serenity which will call to Malta on June 5 and 6, 2015.
Crystal’s onboard casinos on Crystal Serenity are stylish venues offering Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, 3 Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em and Mini- Baccarat, as well as slot and video poker machines are available.
Stephen Xuereb, Valletta Cruise Port’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Valletta Cruise Port wel- comes this first application, following our instiga- tion to introduce this legislation. This legislation makes Malta a more attractive proposition to cruise liners particularly those cruise liners that opt to call at Malta or Gozo for an overnight stay. This is undoubtedly an incentive to encourage cruise liners to overnight in Malta or Gozo, and include both islands in their Mediterranean itiner- ary. Valletta Cruise Port has been promoting these
regulations, and feedback from other cruise lines has been positive.”
MGA’s Executive Chairman, Joseph Cuschieri added: “The Authority is committed to safeguard both the interests of passengers on board cruise ships, as well as those of the Maltese gaming industry. The regulations issued by the MGA mean that cruise ships will be able to operate their casi- nos in-line with the stipulated conditions whilst berthed within Maltese territorial waters.”
Parliamentary Secretary Hon. Dr. Jose Herrera said: “This is indeed very good and exciting news, which augurs well for the future. These new regu- lations were the result of direct consultation with the relevant stakeholders.”
UK Grosvenor Casinos, the UK’s biggest casino operator, has launched ‘Pure Casino’, its first-ever integrated campaign to run on TV, digital, print and in-club POS. The new campaign leverages Grosvenor’s strength in real casino gaming to differentiate their digital offering. It also capitalises on Grosvenor’s unrivalled 45- year-long history in gaming to help build the brand’s credentials and spearhead growth of market share in a sector increasingly crowded with new entrants. The multi-million pound campaign launched in June and uses high-speed cinematography to plot the excitement and tension gamers experience during the spin of a roulette wheel. The campaign is supported with PR & digital activations. Tina Martin, Grosvenor Casinos said: “Grosvenor has a clear focus on casino gaming which delivers pure, unadulterated excitement to customers. This campaign brings that unique excitement to life in a stylish and ownable way.”
Scientific Games wins Aspers shufflers and chippers tender
UK Scientific Games and Aspers Group have entered into a strate- gic partnership to deploy Scientific Games’ table products at its casinos in the UK to increase performance and excite- ment in the pit.
Scientific Games won a high-vol- ume, long-term tender issued earlier this year to provide Shuffle Master shufflers and chippers on a five year lease basis. The commitment covers all shuffler and chipper products required for live gaming. Aspers Group will replace all of its chip sorting machines with Scientific Games’ latest chip sorting model
Chip Star CSL, with over 50 units in total. Additional shufflers will provide coverage for every gam- ing table in the four Aspers casi- nos. Overall, over 110 shuffler and chipper products will be operated at the properties.
The Chip Star is increasingly becoming the product of choice for international casino operators when it comes to chip sorting, while the Chip Star CSL now allows operators to sort 43mm chips or smaller on all channels without a loss in productivity. With Scientific Games’ proven line of shufflers including one2six, DeckMate2, i-Deal and MD3, hands per hour are
increased by up to 20 per cent and dealer errors are reduced to a minimum by enhancing accuracy and profitability.
Mark Beattie, Head of Gaming, Aspers Group, said, “Scientific Games is a market leader in table products and it made perfect sense to work with them to bring the highest quality utility prod- ucts to our casino floor. By lever- aging these outstanding products, we can significantly enhance our gaming operations while deliver- ing an engaging customer experi- ence.”
Stelios Tsapatos, Sales Director (Europe) for Scientific Games, said, “A five-year commitment on both shufflers and chippers is strong proof of their confidence in our Company. We are honored that the Group selected our table products for their properties.”
