Betting on Football 2017 attracts global operators for two-day conference
SBC Events has committed to making the international Betting on Football 2017 its best conference yet, by providing ‘an unforgettable business and networking experience’ for more than 800 executives from 40+ countries
For the first time, Betting on Football (BOF 2017) will be spread across two days at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge from 3-4 May. Included in a delegate ticket is access to six tracks of industry insight, food and refreshments, two high end networking parties and the possibility to join tours of the stadium.
Stamford Bridge is just one of three venues set for centre stage at BOF 2017, alongside the Richard Branson-owned Kensington Roof Gardens and Roman Abramovich’s Under the Bridge nightclub. Kensington Roof Gardens will host the official networking party on May 3, whilst Under the Bridge will open its doors for the official closing party on May 4.
During the two-days, SBC Events will be introducing 100 speakers, split between 35 panel discussions and presentations across three conference rooms. In addition, BOF 2017 will also offer dedicated meeting rooms and introduce the product pitching stage, ‘Pitch Invasion,’ alongside 30 exhibitors inside Stamford Bridge’s 1,400 sqm Great Hall.
Delegates will have the option to arrange meetings before and during the event via the official conference app, which is available on both iOS and Android and includes the full conference agenda. Meanwhile, SBC Events will be organising an exclusive operator networking event for 100 C-Level executives, and a separate event for representatives of the top 40 sports betting affiliates.
SBC Founder Rasmus Sojmark said: “We’ve worked hard to make this year’s Betting on Football an essential part of the event calendar. No other conference will have such a high concentration of leaders, decision makers and speakers from the betting industry. It’s going to be a great place to do network and do business.”

zUK RECRUITMENT
NCF welcomes GRS as recruitment partner
GRS, the casino recruitment company operated by industry experts, Steven Jackson and Paul Sculpher, have been accepted to join the UK casino trade association as an associate member
Tracy Damestani, CEO of the National Casino Forum, said, “Te National Casino Forum (NCF) is delighted that GRS has joined as an associate member; we recognise and value our associate members and the services they provide which are integral to the casino industry.”
Speaking for GRS, Steven Jackson said he was delighted to be accepted as an associate member. “GRS have gone from strength to strength in the two years since we started trading, and while we have placed casino staff and management all over Europe and the world, we felt it was time to approach the trade body in our home country to cement our status as the premier recruitment partner for online and offline gaming sector operators in the UK.”
GRS began two years ago when casino operator Paul Sculpher teamed up with gaming recruitment expert veteran Steven Jackson, combining years of gaming and recruitment expertise and contacts. In the time since, the company has placed candidates all over the world, with the UK online and offline sectors being a particular focus.
Seven UK offline casino operators, from independents to multi-site employers, have used GRS for their management recruitment needs, with repeat business being a key part of the success of the company. Te other area where GRS look to offer value is in experience. While Jackson has been in gaming recruitment for 13 years – and thus not only has a contact book second to none but also a solid knowledge of what type of candidate will fit where – the other owner of GRS is more experienced on the operational side. Paul Sculpher has been a casino operator for over 21 years, and said, “We believe that experience within the industry is a great help to our recruitment operation – there are very few roles we have recruited for that I haven’t either worked in or worked directly with, and our clients appreciate the industry knowledge that comes with this,” he said.
Both owners believe the partnership with NCF will help give credibility to the growing business. Sculpher said: “We couldn’t be happier to be officially part of NCF. Membership gives all operators the opportunity to veto the involvement of a company, and the fact that we were accepted by all members reflects the ties we have developed with the industry.”
zUS MOBILE GAMING
Android mobile gaming start-up ceases operations
Te Android App store, Betcade, has announced the closing of all business operations in January
Betcade, the company that has spent the last 18 months developing an Android-based, gambling-focused mobile hub to connect players and operators, released a statement at the start of January from its Founder and CEO, David Chang, explaining that the company was to close the business in an orderly manner.
Mr. Chang commented: “Start-ups seek to positively influence the industry which they are in, however, this comes with considerable risk as
a business. After evaluating our options, it was determined that the best course of action for the company was to close the business and look after our people the best we can.”
Betcade had been due to commence its mobile services following the ICE show in London, having previously launched its Betcade Pay payment function in December and developed its user interface with design agency, Fantasy at the start of 2016. Te reasons for the closure have not been disclosed, nor has any statement been made as to a future ‘home’ for the technology developed by Betcade.
Mr. Chang concluded: “I’d like to personally thank all of the wonderful people in the gambling and payment industry that believed in our vision and partnered with us to help provide a better gambling mobile experience for everyone.”
