Having introduced its gaming machines into Switzerland, APEX gaming has enjoyed some outstanding results at Casino Barrière Montreux.

SWITZERLAND INSTALLATIONS

GEORGIA – Synot Group has bought an existing casino licence in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. The Czech-based company has already created a footprint in Georgia, operating a smaller casino in Kutaisi in May 2016.

Synot Group Sales Director Roland Andrýsek said: “The country only has a limited number of casinos, concentrated mainly in the capital. Therefore, we are delighted to have acquired a license to operate one of them. We started to operate during this last year in Georgia, in cooperation with a local business partner. The new casino is a truly great establishment, offering more than 200 machines. In the future, we expect the construction of other similar casinos in this country, and even in other cities. From a business perspective, we are speaking about a very interesting location.”

Last autumn Synot opened a new casino in Vietnam and is planning further expansion in the Asian region this year.

BELGIUM– Erron Factory (Erron), a Belgium- based producer of gaming machines, has signed a three-year preferred supplier agreement with Crane Payment Innovations (CPI). Under the agreement, Erron will specify the SC Advance note acceptor on all new and existing games, while also transitioning to CPI as its default supplier for all coin-handling products.

“We’ve relied on CPI products on an ad hoc basis in the past, having always recognised their superior quality and performance,” said Patrick de Preter, owner and CEO of Erron. “Now, after having received additional product training at their Buxtehude production facility, we can confidently say that their professional support is just as exceptional. It was therefore a logical choice to intensify our partnership with CPI. This agreement will not only allow us to enhance service to our customers, but it will also help Erron expand more rapidly into the Belgian and Dutch markets.”

In addition to SC Advance note acceptors, Erron will be purchasing the v2 colibri 3.5” coin acceptor, the space-saving h2 nano hopper and the large capacity Universal Hopper.

“We are very pleased that Erron has selected CPI as its default coin and note supplier for its European expansion plans,” commented Marc Jongerius, CPI sales manager for Gaming. “By taking the time and energy to build this partnership, both of our businesses have gained a deep understanding of each other’s products and equipment, and I am excited CPI will be able to add value to Erron’s business for years to come,” stated Mr. Jongerius.

Te introduction of APEX gaming’s latest slots, powered by its EVO platform, has generated outstanding results for Casino Barrière Montreux according to Hervé Boisteau, Deputy General Director at the casino. Mr. Boisteau commented: “We have a beautiful casino, wonderfully located on the eastern shore of Lake Geneva. Here we closely monitor our slot machine performance and the recent introduction of APEX gaming has brought exceptional results – indeed the long-standing performance has been consistently excellent.

“We are used to an increase in GDR when we introduce a new machine supplier. Yet this is different as the interest has remained – so much so that APEX gaming is now the most popular international slot machine we have on our casino floor,” added Mr. Boisteau.

“Te APEX machines are very stylish and fit exceedingly well into our casino here. Our players love the APEX games, notes Mr. Hervé Boisteau. “Tese results open the door for APEX to become a major supplier to our entire group.”

Ireland’s Gambling Control Bill shifts into gear in 2017

Ireland

Ireland’s Gambling Control Bill has been in legislative limbo since it was first published in 2013 by the former Justice Minister Alan Shatter. Criticism has since been heaped on the Irish government, particularly by the Republican Party, Fianna Fáil, which has demand action to push through the parts of the Gambling Control Bill that would apply age restrictions and control the marketing of the industry.

In response, the Department of Justice has now indicated its intention to progress the legislation through the Oireachtas (the National Parliament) at the earliest opportunity, with especial focus on a series of safeguards to protect both children and people with gambling problems.

Casino Barrière Montreux has already integrated the VIP solution from APEX gaming – the VIP Premium Lounge, alongside the company’s established Pinnacle SL slant tops. Both house APEX’s top-performing EVO platform that offers proven games with pin-sharp graphics.

Kubilay Özer, Global Sales Director for APEX gaming (pictured above right with Mr. Boisteau) told us: “At APEX gaming we are not a company that stands still. On the contrary, we invest strongly in research and development and ensure that our in-depth market knowledge is put to use.”

“Tese are exciting times for us. Our thanks go to the team at Casino Montreux who welcomed the opportunity to trial APEX gaming. Tis openness has paid off with extremely satisfied customers who truly enjoy playing on APEX gaming slots,” added Mr. Özer.

Casino Barrière Montreux belongs to the casino chain Lucién Barrière, which operates casinos in France, Switzerland and Egypt.

Te Bill is still being drafted by the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel, which has confirmed it will be proceeded with “at the earliest feasible opportunity.” Te new legislation is expected to update all existing laws concerning the regulation of gambling and gaming, with the exception of the National Lottery. It will provide for the licensing of all forms of online gambling.

Expected to be included in the Bill is the principle of self- exclusion, both at individual locations and across specific areas for a set period of time, though the implementation of such a system has yet to be outlined. Te Bill has been delayed for an extended period of time due to exactly this type of complexity in its implementation. Age verification similar to that conducted in the sale of alcohol will be introduced in gambling premises, and ‘young’ people are to be banned from working in betting shops.

Wales

Local authorities in Wales are expected to be granted powers to ban fixed odds betting terminals (FOBTs) as part of legislative changes in the Wales Bill 2016- 17, matching powers already in place in Scotland. Currently, there are over 1,500 FOBTs in Wales. Stakes amounting to more than £1.6bn are being placed on FOBTs on an annual basis in the country. Te UK Government has confirmed that it plans such a change at a time when the Parliament has been preparing one of the final debates on the Wales Bill. If such a change is implemented, the local Ministry will become responsible for issuing the licenses of high-stakes gaming machines in the region.

Te legislation changes concerning the FOBTs will apply both to already existing and new gaming machines. Te maximum stake allowed for FOBTs is also expected to be reduced from £10 to £2 as part of the changes.
