Cornell Dubilier Introduces Hermetically-Sealed Capacitors

Liberty, SC — Cornell Dubilier Electronics, Inc. (CDE) has released its Slimpack, type MLSH, the first in a series of hermetically-sealed alu- minum electrolytic capacitors that the company plans to introduce over the next several months. With its glass-to-metal seal that prevents drying out, this capacitor technology has the long lifespan to meet demanding applications for military and aerospace. The hermetic Slimpack is a

spinoff of the non-hermetic Flatpack series that the company has been supplying to military and aerospace customers for over 20 years. The company expects the technology to replace parallel and series banks of wet tantalum capacitors for new and existing designs, especially where bulk storage is paramount. According to the company, the MLSH Slimpack, measuring 1.0 x 1.5 x 0.5 in. (25.4 x 38.1 x 12.7 mm), will weigh less and have more capaci- tance than a parallel bank of three or

more wet tantalum capacitors at 55°C (131°F). High capacitance at low temperature is a key require- ment for the power supplies used in military and aerospace applications.

In addition to its performance advan- tages at low temperature, the tech- nology is expected to have a signifi- cantly lower cost than a comparable

bank of wet tantalum capacitors. Contact: Cornell Dubilier

Dispense Works: EZ Benchtop Robotic Dispensing System

McHenry, IL — Dispense Works has introduced its EZ series of benchtop fluid dispensing robots. All motion and valve/syringe control is integrat- ed into the head requiring no exter- nal PC or control box for operation. In addition to being used as an

independent work cell, this design makes it useful for mounting on con- veyors or over indexing dials to oper- ate as a self-contained fluid dispensing station. Mounting flexibility can suit most special machine applications. Designed with the latest embed-

ded control technology, the EZ series includes RS-232, network and dual USB connections. Additional I/O and logic are included to streamline inte- gration. Motion paths may be defined by typing commands, importing CAD files or by using the advanced jog and teach functions. Hundreds of pat- terns may be stored on the included CF memory card. The exclusive Super Speed technology performs at over 20 in/s (508 mm/s). These affordable systems are designed and built in the U.S. to

machine tool quality standards. They use the same software and controls as the entire Dispense Works prod- uct line.

Lutze: Silflex®

Charlotte, NC — Lutze, a designer and manufacturer of control products for factory automation, has added the Silflex®M VFD and motor supply cable to its product portfolio. The cable contains thermoset XLPE insu- lation type XHHW-2 and offers excel- lent electrical performance and safe- ty for VFD applications. Key design features include:

thermoset material that can with- stand high overload and short circuit temperatures, small cable ODs for easy installation, high dielectric strength, low capacitance, and high impedance. Its XLPE insulation is recommended by VFD manufactur- ers and the cable meets Rockwell®

Motor Supply Cable VFD and

cable designs for Type 1 installa- tions. Also, the cable is available with or without a shielded pair. The shielded cable has a flexi-

ble, easy-to-strip PVC jacket. It’s list- ed as UL Type Flexible VFD Servo in compliance with UL 508A, NFPA 79 and meets NEC requirements. The cable has been tested successfully in accordance to Oil Res I and II stan- dards. Classic four-conductor design and servo design with shielded con-

trol pair are available from stock. Contact: Lutze, Inc., 13330
