Roswell, GA — Rehm Thermal Sys - tems, a provider of manufacturing equipment to the electronics and pho- tovoltaics industries, now offers its lat- est product lineup of soldering sys- tems, including the VisionXP+ Vac and CondensoXM. The VisionXP+ Vac is a two-in-one solution for reflow convection soldering and the Condenso XM provides condensa- tion soldering with or without a vacuum. The VisionXP+ convection
soldering system combines num - er ous developments, primarily in energy efficiency and emissions reduction. The system provides customers an average energy savings of 20 percent in electronics production
and reduces emissions of CO2 by 10 metric tons per year. The vacuum option makes convection soldering processes possible with or without vacuum in the same system. The VisionXP+ removes gas inclusions and voids during the convection sol- dering process while the solder is still in its molten state. With a negative pressure of up to 2 mbar, void rates of below 2 percent are possible. In reflow condensation solder-
ing with the CondensoXM, the sol- dering process is carried out with the aid of a hot vapor and the heat trans- fer medium Galden®. As heat trans- fer in condensation soldering is as
much as ten times higher than in convection soldering, large or high- mass boards can be processed. The use of the injection principle and the control of temperature and pressure ensure precise and varied reflow pro- filing. The system contains many

Danbury, CT — Branson’s Simulta - neous Through-Transmission Infra - red® (STTIr®) laser welding offers manufacturers the ability to achieve a clean, clear-on-clear, particulate- free, hermetically-sealed weld. Bran -
son and Sono-Tek have collaborated in developing an advanced technique for precision application of laser absorbers, employing Sono-Tek’s ultrasonic fine-line coating system. The technique applies thin-film dep- osition of a 0.5 mm (0.02 in.) wide line of laser absorber to the weld area, for joining clear-on-clear plas- tics. STTlr technology is capable of meeting highly-specialized manufac- turing demands of small geometrical- ly complex devices and does not use vibration force, which makes it able to accommodate delicate parts or those with embedded electronics. Other laser welding techniques
such as scan or trace welding require a laser beam to travel along the weld line of a plastic part, heating and cooling as it goes. STTIr on the other hand, shapes multiple stationary laser beams in a wave guide along the entire length of the weld line. Discrete beam-zone intensity control with a tool map protects delicate structures while assuring uniform weld performance. All the lasers fire simultaneously under a clamp force, heating, melting and bonding the component parts along the entire weld surface all at once, in a fraction of the time required for trace weld- ing. The waveguide that houses the laser ferrules can be configured on multiple axes to accommodate highly
