Plasma Treatment The joint effort developed a spe-
cialized, multistep plasma treatment process that converts the surface en- ergies of each subcomponent into like polar groups, which improves the overall bond uniformity significantly. Plasma is a state of matter, like
a solid, liquid, or gas. When enough energy is added to a gas it becomes ionized into a plasma state. The col- lective properties of these active in- gredients can be controlled to clean, activate, chemically graft and de- posit a wide range of chemistries.
