nail news News in Brief A fresh look Pastel power
OPI SoftShades Pastels collection is the ideal complement for pretty nails this Spring season.
“Our pastels play well together, and create a myriad of sophisticated, feminine looks from accent nails to French tips and nail art,” explains Suzi Weiss- Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder and Brand Ambassador. “Plus, they bring plenty of modern romance to bridal, prom and other Spring / Summer occasions.”
Cover star
OPI’s new creative ambassador Kerry Washington appeared on the cover of WWD to discuss her collaboration with the brand in detail, emphasising her personal touch to the collection that will launch later in the year.
Alongside referencing her popular Scandal character, the actress also couldn’t resist naming one of the new polishes after her two-year-old daughter, Isabelle – IsabelletWay.
Kerry also spoke about the importance of including a nude shade for every skin tone. “For me, growing up, when people were saying ‘nude’, they weren’t taking about my naked skin tone,” she said. “I made sure that in my collection, we had nudes that also represent me.” The forthcoming line will include the shades Pale to the Chief, a light nude; Speaker of the House, a chocolate brown and the tawny copper, Yank My Doodle, to address a wide range of skin colours.
Super Bowl mani
All eyes were on pop queen Beyoncé as she took to the stage to perform alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars at the recent Super Bowl halftime show.
Wearing a Michael Jackson-inspired ensemble, Queen Bey once again looked to her nail artist Lisa Logan to create a striking look on the night. Lisa opted for the vampy shade of OPI’s ‘Lady in Black’ topped with the brand’s Matte Coat before applying single gold studs on each nail for added detail.
Pop star ‘Stands
Out’ X Factor winner Leona Lewis has become the latest famous face to show off her Gelish manicure.
Celebrity nail technician Stephanie Staunton worked with the singer at a recent shoot and took to her Instagram to post a photo of Leona sporting Gelish’s ‘Stand Out’, a sophisticated red hue.
It’s in the Cloud, a creamy white; This Cost Me a Mint, a cool, refreshing, pale green; One Chic Chick, a downy soft yellow; Stop it I’m Blushing!, a warm, baby peach; It’s a Boy!, a baby blue and I Am What I Amethyst, a light pale lilac are the fresh hues which comprise the new line.
