in conversation with a passionate professional
This month we chat to Magdalena Moregiel, Operations Manager at Strip Distribution, Lycon UK, to discover more about her life in and away from the beauty industry.
Since I can remember I was always fascinated by beauty products. Soon after my mum treated me to my first facial with her facialist at the age of 15, I fell in love with the experience. I was drawn to the profession and eventually decided to follow my intuition and enrolled myself for the BSc Beauty Therapy and Health Science course at the London College of Fashion.
The best thing about my job is being a part of one of the fastest growing, ambitious industries, which offers endless opportunities. In my current role, I enjoy being a member of a fast growing and ambitious team. Customer service plays a vital role in my profession, and I am very dedicated to establishing strong relationships with industry professionals.
On a week day I wake up at 6.30. I am a strong believer in expressing gratitude, therefore this is the first thing I do, followed by 15 minutes meditation - it keeps me grounded. I make my morning green smoothie and then I am off to work. Every day is a busy day filled with new exciting projects. My evenings and weekends are mostly spent in the library, as I’m currently doing research into my Masters’ degree. I am studying the impact New Media and technological innovation has on beauty, looking into how consumers adapt to current technological innovations in the beauty sector.
If I wasn’t in the beauty industry I would be a yoga teacher, living in Bali.
My ideal weekend would be exploring new
places.Traveling makes me grow as a person, it opens up new ways of seeing and allows me to get to know the food cultures. I love food.
When growing up my role model was my mum- strong, dedicated and very passionate about all she did, juggling her professional life and looking after four children.
My favourite book isThe Bhagavad Gita, my bible. Another that had a significant impact on my life is The Artist Waywritten by Julia Cameron.
My favourite film is Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
My beauty icon is Audrey Hepburn - not only an actress but an amazing humanitarian.
My favourite beauty treatments are old school facials.
My top beauty tip is to use vitamin A and highly potent antioxidants on your skin daily. Also dry body brush, this will help with water retention. If you suffer from Acne, cut gluten, sugar and dairy out. This will save you spending a lot of money, trust me.
My guilty pleasure is a good cheese with a glass of red wine.
My strengths are being focused, hardworking, determined and very optimistic.
You might not know that I enrolled to study Economics, but quickly changed my mind.
I couldn’t live without my smoothie maker.
The most famous person I have met is Bradley Cooper. He came to see me for a facial.
I’m at my happiest when I do Yoga.
The motto I live by is, “No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again” – Buddha.
I would like to be remembered as someone who made a positive difference.
