First anniversary

celebrations Germaine de Capuccini recently celebrated the first anniversary of its partnership with the Alton Towers Spa with an evening of treatment taster packages, skin analysis and a facial workshop.

Focusing on the treatment menu, guests were treated to an exclusive preview of the new Chocolate Treatment in action, whilst getting expert tips and advice from Julie McCann, National Sales Manager for Germaine de Capuccini. A taste of the new afternoon tea menu was served and specially created Germaine de Capuccini cupcakes were also on the menu for the evening.

The well-attended event also offered the chance to experience the new Germaine de Capuccini diagnostic skin unit. All guests received a goody bag to take home and there were special offers including gift with purchase on the night.

“The past year has been one of the most exciting years for the Alton Towers Spa as Germaine de Capuccini has given us the freedom to create unique experiences for our guests,” commented Rebecca Millican, Spa Manager at Alton Towers Spa. “We are a Spa within a theme park resort so we like to add a sense of fun to our menu and the team from Germaine de Capuccini has supported our vision throughout and we look forward to the future with them.”

Egyptian style

Spa and Wellness Company, Raison d’Etre, designed the concept and managed the launch of Ki Spa, Cairo, which opened last month.

Founded in 1998, Raison d’Etre have been creating tailor-made Spas from concept, to development, right through to the opening. The Ki Spa is a 3,500 square metre facility with 11 treatment rooms, one double suite with an en-suite steam room and Jacuzzi, and two double treatment cabanas in the lagoon area.

There is also a café on site, offering balanced meal options and a tea garden to help the clients relax and unwind before or following their treatments.

The Ki Spa was built in collaboration with Palm Hills Developments and is situated in the residential area of The Palm Club, Cairo, Egypt.

A facial for city-dwellers

This year, it took just one week for London to breach its annual air pollution limits. Exposing skin to such kinds of pollution can take its toll; pollution can damage the purification process and it affects the cells’ ability to repair.

The Agua Bathhouse & Spa at Mondrian London has launched a unique facial that has been designed to reduce the effects of pollution on the skin; the Natura Bissé Diamond Energy Facial deeply cleanses the skin, helping to repair pollution damage.

The facial begins with a deep exfoliation to rid the skin of any dirt and dead skin cells. Natura Bissé’s Diamond Nectar Serum is then massaged into the skin to improve the definition of the facial contours and clear the lymphatic zones of any toxins. Finally, a cooling algae mask is applied to firm the skin and restore the skin’s elasticity.

Your opinion

matters Macdonald Hotels and Resorts have launched the ‘Your Opinion Matters Survey’ to help create an exceptional Spa journey for the customer. It is an internal incentive program that aims to encourage all staff members to take pride in the treatments and customer service they deliver, making it a first class Spa experience for all guests.

Following each treatment, clients will be asked to complete a survey and return it in an envelope for the attention of the Spa Manager. Therapists will then receive points based on this customer feedback, and the points system will be linked to awards schemes celebrated by the Spa teams throughout the year. The rewards are as enticing as ever, with a chance of winning an overseas holiday in the mix.

The strategy was created and implemented by Jeanette Jones, Managing Director of Spa and Leisure at the Macdonald Hotel group. “I’m delighted to announce the official launch of our ‘Your Opinion Matters Survey’,” says Jeanette. “Since its soft launch in January this has proved a great motivator enabling our therapists to really think about the treatment and take our service to the next level. It’s designed to raise the bar in our Spas to not simply fulfil but exceed our customers’ expectations.”
