Gaylord National is situated just steps from more than 150 unique shops and boutique stores, as well as more than 30 different dining outlets, water activities, designer-fashion shopping at Tanger Outlets, and the best views of the region from atop the 180-foot The Capital Wheel observation wheel. Only eight miles from downtown Washington, DC, the resort also offers tour bus shuttles that can assist groups in exploring the area's monuments, museums and attractions. The only waterfront resort in the region, Gaylord National offers water taxi services to neighboring destinations like Old Town Alexandria, Georgetown, Mount Vernon and more.

Coming to National Harbor in 2016 will be the MGM National Harbor Resort. Playing off the progressive architectural design of its exterior, the interior of the resort will seamlessly integrate natural materials in creating simple, yet elegant spaces.

According to Bill Boasberg, MGM National Harbor general manager, “In an area steeped in tradition, MGM National Harbor will honor the region’s legacy through its design elements while creat- ing a sophisticated resort experience.” Designed by Studio GAIA, a New York- based designer with resort credits all over the globe, the new resort property’s rooms will feature light-colored woods, monochromatic earth tones, floor-to- ceiling windows, and contemporary furnishings. The spacious 400-square foot rooms will include a functional desk area and a comfortable seating area along the window wall.

Advanced technology incorporated into the venue will remember guests’ temperature and lighting preferences after they leave the room, resuming those settings upon their return. Motion sensors will automatically adjust the settings in the interim to optimize energy consumption.

MGM National Harbor’s bathrooms will feature oversized mirrors, polished chrome fixtures, dual-vanity sinks, and a focal-feature shower that radiates opaque white light, creating shadow play between the bedroom and bath. Meanwhile, just outside each bathroom a distinctive piece of artwork inspired by the historic Washington, DC region will add to the overall atmosphere.

Located just 10 miles outside of the nation’s capital, this 308-room resort is expected to feature top-of-the-line amenities and experiences, including a 125,000-square foot casino, a world- class spa and salon, a 3,000-seat entertainment theater, 8,000-square feet of high-end retail space, 27,000-square feet of space for meetings and conven- tions, plus restaurants from celebrated local and national chefs.
