new technologies, there is a basic learn- ing curve that requires a person to down- load an application to their smart device. After that, it truly is an engaging technolo- gy that has so many fun ways to deliver content, learning experiences, interactive networking, and so much more."

Tim Wingert, production and marketing coordinator for IMS Technology Services, explained further, "Augmented Reality mobile apps have the ability to provide attendees with much more information and usable content than standard print alone. Being able to interact with a physi- cal image and seeing an image come to life on your mobile device creates a heightened connection and engagement with the content."

Wingert continued, "This can be used to draw traffic to areas around your event, be it an information booth or various

areas betweenmeeting spaces. Attendees can point their phones at a specific image and see additional information, text, pictures or video become animated around that object. This also is a fantastic opportunity to draw attention to exhibit booths, as it automatically increases the time that attendees are interacting with your content. It can be used to motivate attendees to explore areas around the venue as part of a scavenger hunt, too."

"Specific-branded (skinned apps) apps aren’t necessary all the time," observed Wingert. "With the right technology part- ner helping you to implement your con- tent, free apps are an option for making use of exciting augmented reality."

"Having the creative team at IMS always pushing the envelope and developing new product offerings for the meeting and events industry really keeps our

organization in the forefront," Cataldi noted. "It is this proactive approach when complimented with traditional AV and lighting support that can deliver a com- plete immersive experience for our clients and their guests. It is the return on experience (ROE) that the attendees expect, but more importantly, it provides the return on investment (ROI) that our clients desire."
