Pet Festival. pasco

Saturday, October 4 was the day scheduled for the Second Annual Pasco Pet Fest - rain or shine. And as the unpredictable Florida weather played havoc with the vendors setting up on Friday evening, one of the organizers, Jason Longo, took it all in stride. How could one expect anything less from a guy picking up cow patties in an effort to keep the parking lot clear of mishaps for his guests the following day? For those who aren’t aware, the Pasco Pet Fest is held on an actual cow pasture, part of the property that is also home to Florida Winery Estates in Land O’Lakes. The winery has been owned and operated by animal lovers, Ron and Kathy Foster for the past 13 years. “We wanted to create an event in Pasco county and invite businesses and rescue groups from surrounding counties,” said

Jason. “The Fosters have been so helpful and generous in help- ing Trina and I fulfill that goal for the last two years. Trina Messano is Jason’s better half, and creator/owner of Doggie Cakes. The Fosters and their staff donated all of their tips the month prior to Pasco Pet Fest, to help Jason and Trina cover expenses. As it turns out, the weather cleared after Friday evening’s

thunderstorms around the Tampa Bay Area. It was breezy, but the skies were blue and the sun was shining as folks meandered under the shade of giant oak trees draped with Spanish moss. Plans are already taking place for the October 3, 2015 Pasco Pet Fest at Florida Winery Estates. For vendor information, visit PascoPetFest.com. Photography by Anna Cooke.

The 12th Annual Tuxes & Tails was a night to remember for ani- mal lovers in Tampa Bay. The Masquerade-themed event was held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina on Saturday, October 11, with a record attendance of 704 guests. More than $144,000 raised and 19 homeless pets found forever homes during the evening. “This year’s Tuxes & Tails was the most successful in its 12 year history. Not only did we have a record number of atten-

dees, but 19 animals found loving homes. For us that is the most important accomplishment” said Humane Society of Tampa Bay Executive Director, Sherry Silk. The fashion show featured Tampa celebrities walking with

adoptable animals. Runway favorites were (shown below, left to right) retired New York Yankee, Tino Martinez walking with Chopper, County Commissioner Ken Hagan held onto Ginger and Florida Attorney General, Pam Bondi with Savannah.
