COMMERCIAL POOLS

by the UV irradiation process, the UVARAY offers greatly improved bathing water, reduced skin and eye irritation and the removal of the common and unpleasant ‘swimming pool’ odour.

So how do you save money? Well, ingeniously, when usage is low, the UV lamp power can automatically adjust to its lowest setting, providing efficient disinfection with a 50% reduction in energy consumption. A cost-effective alternative to the above

UVARAY unit is Triogen’s UVALITE UV Disinfection System. With a similar water disinfection process, the UVALITE offers the same UV lamp energy saving features at slightly lower flow rates for smaller pools.

06) CALOREX CAN HELP YOU CONTROL THE INDOOR POOL ENVIRONMENT AND COSTS The success of an indoor commercial installation is highly dependent on the choice, efficiency and cost of the indoor pool environmental control system. The outlay for such a system can be high but fortunately asset leasing is a financial option that is available. As the UK’s exclusive supplier of Calorex equipment to the wet leisure industry, Certikin’s H & V division is there to help guide commercial operators through this exciting financial option.

Thanks to the exceptional energy efficiency of Calorex, the multi-tasking Calorex Delta 14 and 16 are the only swimming pool dehumidifiers on the government’s Energy Technology list. This is verified independently by the Carbon Trust as part of its commitment to lowering carbon emissions.

This means that the whole cost of the Delta, the design associated with it, the planning, transport and similar costs can be offset against tax in year one, instead of the usual write down over several years. This can even

include the cost of any ductwork, pipe work and other ancillary parts of the installation.

Low interest loans arranged by the Carbon Trust are available to all customers who are replacing older inefficient equipment with any Calorex high efficiency heating and dehumidification equipment. All that needs to be demonstrated is that the installation of Calorex equipment will reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. By taking this option, after costs of finance it still often works out less expensive to purchase using asset lease than to pay direct with cash. This means cash is maintained within a business for other projects.

07) TAKE CONTROL OF POOL DOSING – AUTOMATICALLY! The benefits of the automatic controller for the commercial market have become more and more evident over recent years. Controllers are essential in the accurate measurement and control of the disinfection and pH chemicals. Here a great advantage is gained as time spent by leisure staff measuring and hand dosing chemicals is greatly reduced, decreasing the Health and Safety risks to staff and customers. Over dosing and under dosing are common problems, often resulting in pool closures and loss of revenue. Automatic controllers eliminate dosing errors and changes in chemical demands can quickly and easily be met. Costs are reduced, as only the required about of chemicals are dosed as well as bather comfort being improved. Manufacturers of automatic dosing controllers have responded to the huge leap forward in technology and provided customers with state of the art controllers, with products no longer just focused on the dosing but on a complete pool management system. An example of this is BAYROL’s new PM5 range which includes the Analyt and PoolManager Pro for the commercial market. Economical benefits include: Poteniostatic disinfection measurement, providing the most accurate and responsive chemical control. The need to hold the chlorine levels at 2mg/l is no longer necessary, drop it with confidence to 1mg/l knowing that the free chlorine in your pool will be at its optimum efficacy with a constant controlled pH level of 7.2. Select the eco mode for the circulation pump while the pool is not in use overnight and automatically close the cover without having to rely on the staff.

Control the heating from the automatic controller. At night or when the pool is not in use over the weekend, drop the temperature by a degree.

Lights and water features are all controlled from the one central controller. Many plant room features can be controlled from the one

central hub too. Trend and assess the results of all of the dosing and temperature information when downloaded and use this to make further savings.

Monitor and control all of these settings from your PC, laptop, iPad or mobile phone. Changes and adjustments can be made immediately and problems can be pre-empted by the leisure staff or service company, reducing or eliminating any downtime of the pool.

Service companies can monitor or connect to the controller if there is a problem and access the information helping to diagnose issues remotely or come prepared with information to site.
