NEW STAFF
Introducing the new faces who have joined Sibford over the past academic year
gave me on arrival and the laughter and tears I have shared with them over the past year. Being a typical Geography teacher my main hobby is travelling (not good for the carbon footprint!) Having worked my way around the paradise islands of the Indian Ocean, I am now having a rest putting my gardening and DIY skills to use on my new house.
Melanie Dean Maths Teacher I started my career as a chemistry teacher but when I had children offered to help with an adult education
numeracy class and became
fascinated at why adults struggle with maths. I decided to take a maths degree and retrain as a maths teacher. I love the diversity of the children at Sibford and really enjoy working with pupils of different abilities and helping them to achieve the very best they possibly can. When I’m not teaching I enjoy hill walking and playing the piano, for which I am still taking lessons and have just passed my grade 4 exam.
Felicity Dyndor Science Teacher I studied Environmental Science at the Nottingham Trent University and spent a year working in industry following which I did environmental field trials, testing the efficiency of new pesticides and assessing their environmental impact. As much as I enjoyed this work I missed human interaction and this led to me to do a PGCE
in 2008. I love working at Sibford, the students are so enthusiastic, are always willing to try new things and are so supportive of each other. I have really enjoyed having my tutor group; they certainly keep me on my toes, and I have been proud to be appointed as Head of Nansen House. Out of school I play football for Banbury United Ladies and coach Banbury’s Inclusive Disability Adult Football Team. I enjoy amateur dramatics and am a member of Helmdon Bridge Players where I take part both on and off stage … panto is definitely my favourite! I support Queens Park Rangers so usually spend Saturdays at Loftus Road, although this can be more painful than fun!
Luke Hallam Evans Drama Assistant I was born in Malawi in 1983 and spent most of
my childhood in
Africa. I trained as an actor and completed my BSc (Hons) in Media and Society at London Southbank University. I am married to my beautiful wife Emma and we have a gorgeous baby daughter, Asta Skye, who was born just after my first day working at Sibford. I enjoy the people at Sibford ... I have never worked or studied anywhere where there is such a friendly atmosphere and willingness to help one another. Away from school I spend time enjoying my family and getting to see my baby girl grow up. My hobbies include guitar, 5 a side football, squash, cooking, Arsenal FC, FIFA on the PS3 and going to music concerts.
Alice Goodman Early Years Practitioner and Forest School Leader
For three years I worked as a Senior Nursery Nurse providing care for children aged 0-5. I have always had a keen interest in art and before starting a career working with children, I studied Fine Art at Warwickshire College. As Forest School Leader at Sibford I enjoy teaching and supporting the children who gain confidence by learning new skills and trying new activities such as using a bow saw and climbing trees. I really like the ethos of Sibford School and the wonderful outdoor working and learning environment. When I am not at work I love to draw and paint, spend time with family and friends and keep fit by walking and swimming.
Kim Haddrell Learning Support Assistant Before coming to Sibford I worked at Shenington School as a part time French teacher and teaching assistant. I have really enjoyed my first year at the Junior School, I can’t believe the time has passed so quickly! When I’m not at school I enjoy camping holidays, cycling and cooking .
Nick Hadley Junior School Teacher After completing a degree in geography in 1995 I worked as a computer programmer until 2006 when I retrained as a primary school teacher. I worked in a number of schools until arriving at Sibford in 2011. I’ve been married since 1999 and have two children. At Sibford I’ve particularly enjoyed the opportunities to teach in the
