Jubilee celebrations

Portraits of the Queen produced by Sibford Junior School pupils have formed part of an on-line gallery celebrating the Diamond Jubilee.

The Good Schools Guide, in association with The Renaissance of the Portrait Foundation, invited schools across the country to take part in The Children’s Queen: A Jubilee Portrait Competition for Schools.

Winners and other outstanding entries will be published in a special book that will be presented to the Queen later in the year. In the meantime, the portraits can be viewed on the Good Schools Guide website gallery.

Junior School teacher Ali

Sayer said: “Lots of the children produced some excellent portraits of the Queen as part of our Jubilee celebrations but we chose just eight to submit to the competition. “We are now keeping our fingers

crossed to see if any of our entries make it into the book*.” Meanwhile, year 5 pupil Jacob Robinson cooked up a right royal treat when he produced a cookie in the shape of the Queen’s head. Food tech teacher Linda Denwood said: “I thought the likeness was incredible and the detail was amazing … even down to Her Majesty’s pearl earrings!”
