Te Outpost explores the effects of coastal erosion on local architecture in Holderness, East Riding of Yorkshire.

Te chapel’s sculptural form will create a new visual focus, with the shape derived from a desire to capture views of the arboretum and Charles Barry’s gothic centrepiece. An adaptable space, the chapel can accommodate whole-school assemblies and regular worship, and has excellent acoustics.

Michael Tennyson’s model consists of a large aircraft carrier with ‘USC NEW CAPITOL DC-02’ written across the back, transporting what appears to be Havana’s El Capitolio (New Capitol Building). Tis piece uses architecture to make a political statement relating to the University of South Carolina’s current campaign.

Te house design takes full advantage of this riverside location by cantilevering the main living areas towards the river at first-floor level. It also takes its cue from the traditional Welsh longhouse, both in its form and its use of traditional local slate and stone cladding.

Te Leaf Tower was a research project based on the premise that a tower can generate energy using solar photovoltaic panels, to supply a 100% supply of electricity to its users. Its structure is based on a leaf, a form that captures energy from the sun to fuel plant growth. Te facade projects a strong geometric pattern both from inside and out, creating an elegant and functional form.

Set amidst the treetops of the Chateau La Coste estate, this 225m2


pavilion


has been designed to house small works of art. A terrace on the roof can double up as a sculpture garden; the gallery – essentially one large cantilever – is held on to the hillside by a concrete anchor.

Te development is conceived as an integrated urban living complex, contributing to the ‘sustainable compact city’ aspirations of Kunming. Tis high-density proposal for an 80-hectare site in the provincial capital of Yunnan envisions the creation of a new park at the site’s centre, pushing up the built density at the perimeter to the levels of Hong Kong or Manhattan.

Designed as a generous family residence on a tight urban site in the suburbs of Mumbai, this house is organised around a central courtyard from which all major rooms are accessed. Set over three floors, the levels within the house utilise the natural slope of the site.
