of a new department store in Moscow. A suspended ceiling with beaten stainless steel relates directly to the geometry of the external envelope and wraps around the levels. Te polished steel reflects the visitors below with constantly shifting patterns.

A student of the Bartlett School of Architecture, Hill has submitted two digital prints into the Royal Academy Summer Show this year. Entitled ‘Sands pianists IV’, the print shows two cut-away holes, revealing parts of an image. Te image shows a young girl being taught how to play the piano by an elderly man in mirrored space.

Tis project explores adaptive possibilities of the ‘big box’ style modern industrial shed. In response to a lack of accessible green space, an abandoned Asda warehouse is transformed into a recreation facility; the intention is to provide an experience and programme of activities similar to those that might normally be found in a country park.

India’s Jaduguda uranium mine and power plant causes health problems for inhabitants of a nearby village. During the day it tries to protect them by absorbing the radioactive gas produced, while the flora absorbs and redirects the gas into the building’s interior, where it is transformed into energy. At night it provides the village with energy.

Te Dover Dichotomy I Relief matte print Adam Hiles
Te Dover Dichotomy project examines the growth and expansion of the port of Dover and puts forward the idea of a hybrid port/town landscape that takes into account the complex relationship between the port and its namesake town. Tis piece depicts mobile security units that hover over the landscape, carrying out spot checks on the passing vehicles and the fragments of remaining town that lie below.

Te Dover Dichotomy II depicts the complex network of flyovers and gantries that thread the port of Dover’s traffic through the intestinal complexities of the new hybrid landscape. In exploring the expansion of the port of Dover, the Dover Dichotomy project proposes something of a hybrid port/town landscape.
