Te £5,000 award for Best First-Time Exhibitor was awarded to Article 25. Te UK charity, which designs, builds and manages projects in the developing world, exhibited a model and a kit of parts in this year’s Summer Show. Te model built by Xenia Georgiou and Michael Ruthenbury, with support from the Article 25 design team and 4D Modelshop, conveys a concept that aims to provide good architecture in developing communities that are facing rapid change in challenging environments. Te entry includes a demonstration of the
component parts of the building and a construction manual, encapsulating their ethos perfectly. Te Gola Forest National Park Headquarters is an example of a structure that incorporates vernacular architecture and local resources to build capacity in one of the world’s most marginalised communities while providing world-class facilities. Te kit of parts include solar anels, benches, shutters, water tanks, gutters, ventilation screens, framework, foundations and wall panels.
