A single vertical cut in the east elevation forms a new church window above the alter and is the only opening within the main elevations. T e dome is lit by a circular glass top light.


T is contemporary family house was inspired by the history of its site as a brick fi elds. T e ‘kiln’ element is the parental domain with snug, master bedroom and cinema. T e massing achieved the disaggregated profi le that reveals the woodlands. T e Roman bricks and oak cladding were chosen for their durability and connection to the site’s history.

T e study relates to a proposal for Fitzrovia, which seeks to create a strong sense of local identity, capturing the prestige of this historic residential neighbourhood. Using proportion and materiality, the contemporary architectural response respects the street while off ering delight and intrigue at roof level.

T is summer pavilion is set within a lush pastoral country estate. T e auditorium design takes its cue from a traditional Japanese pavilion in its use of sliding screens and verandas to link it to the landscape, both visually and physically.

T is is inspired by the caterpillar, whose joints and linking muscles allow its full length to be raised, then supported by its anal claspers. Here, computer- controlled motors are the muscles and power screw- actuators open and close the truss sections.

T e design speculates on the potential of researching alternative energy systems that could generate power for the train station. T e ambition is to integrate the fl ow of energy and waste matter of these new systems, such as thermoelectric energy and bioreactors, with the built environment.

Commemorating the Bethnal Green Disaster of 1943, a cantilevered stairway will evoke the space where 300 people were trapped and 173 died. T e roof will allow light in from above through 173 angled cones, each representing a victim.
