Study for Maggie’s Centre, St Barts, London

Tis centre will be vertical, sitting on the historically charged site. Te building is envisioned as a ‘vessel within a vessel within a vessel’. Te structure comprises a branching concrete frame, an inner layer of perforated bamboo and an outer layer of matte white glass with coloured glass fragments.

Te studies show the three-storey centre, which has an open curved staircase integral to the concrete frame, with open spaces vertically lined in perforated bamboo. Te glass facade geometry, like a musical ‘staff ’, is in 90cm-wide horizontal strips, following the geometry of the main stair.

Te drawing explores the complex three- dimensionality of the form of the Marlowe Teatre, which was completed recently. Tis is in context with the supporting spaces and circulation system that comprise the workings of a complex theatre.

[Re]constructed Ground, No. 1

Te proposal to re- establish Marseille’s Le Panier district as [re] constructed ground – a palimpsest of city territory composed of the material (geology, archaeology, urbanism(s)) and the immaterial (history, memory) – positions the ground with its contents as equals to the experienced visible city.


Te project proposes a defensive strategy to protect Venice from the increasing threat of invasive algae growth and the pressures facing the fragile Venetian lagoon. Situated in the north of the Arsenale, the project proposes laboratory structures that will monitor and analyse algae growth as well as the welfare of the lagoon. Te structures will symbiotically control and collect a harvest of macro-algae, which will be converted into bio-fuels in order to generate power for the city.

Te Eternal City Inkjet print James Redman


Te Eternal City is an end- of-world supposition. Te project forms a critique on sustainability and eternity, in conversation between 16th-century metaphysics and Joseph Heller’s literary work, Catch-22.


Tis project transforms a sprawling and unsightly 1960s bungalow. Te confused form of the original has been re-organised into three distinct volumes, each with views over the south garden, providing deep overhangs to control solar gain. Te model exists as a representation and an object in its own right.

A founder member of Archigram and a Royal Academician since 2003, Peter Cook’s Bond University: Gavin Robotham Studies digital print was developed in the CRAB studio, which was formed in 2006 with Gavin Robotham.

Cook’s Island City captures one of his radical proposals. Depicting a city made up of numerous islands with floating yellow taxi cabs, it joins the array of other concept cities proposed by Archigram including Walking City, Plug-in City and Instant City.
