Benefits of the Social Network
Facebook has its uses after all. When the Santa Sleigh was going around Kilmacolm last month, there was a frantic dad looking for their location so he could get his wee girls there in time to see Santa! After an APB to all Facebook friends, The Advertizer was able to send him in the right direction with a successful result! Thank you to everyone who sent in details of Santa’s location - so you see, Facebook can be useful after all.
To quote ‘happy dad’: “Thanks a million for your help. 2 very happy girls. This is the great side of FB that isn’t seen enough. I had 2 totally delighted wee girls who couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Santa.”
Also, during the fl oods and snow of late November and early December, we managed to keep updating our page with up to the minute traffi c news, details of roads that were blocked, bus cancellations, etc. Thanks again to our many friends out there who gave us the information as it happened across the Gryffe area.
You don’t need to be on Facebook every day to keep up to date with what’s going on locally. Simply set up an account - all you need is an active email address - and you can get updates sent as messages to your email or mobile phone. You only need to log in to Facebook now and again to keep things active. But if you do decide to join Facebook, please look up Rona at Gryffe Advertizer and become a friend!
