Paisley Abbey Celebrity Organ Recitals


Celebrity Organ recitals showcasing the recently restored Abbey organ and attracting some of the country’s finest organists will take place in a series continuing in the early months of 2012.


Tickets for the evening concerts, each of which begins at 7.30pm, are already on sale at £10 from the Abbey shop; the Abbey office or at the door.


Wednesday 18th January – Dr George McPhee - a varied programme which includes Passacaglia and Fugue


in C Minor by J S Bach and Reubke’s Sonata on the 94th Psalm.


Wednesday 8th February – Thomas Trotter - City of Birmingham organist; acclaimed international performer. Among other pieces, he will perform music from Bizet’s Carmen.


Wednesday 14th March – John Butt - University of Glasgow; renowned Bach scholar.


Wednesday 18th April – John Kitchen - Organist and Senior Lecturer at University of Edinburgh; City of Edinburgh Organist.

You’ll be able to sample a selection of red, white and sparkling wines along with a variety of Co-operative nibbles, perhaps some oatcakes? The event is free, but ticketed for numbers, with a £5 deposit which will be returned to ticket holders on the night.
