JANUARY 2012
Well here we are writing this article in Chiang Mai and it does not seem so long ago we were doing the same.
Julie has settled and it was good to be able to spend Christmas with her before having to return to go to work in early January, thus leaving Julie with such excitement in her heart for all the children which she can help and support by the simple act of showing them love.
We had the privilege of meeting a couple from Australia who have 3 adopted children, their youngest from Baan King Kaew a few years ago and brought her back to see where she came from and also managed to find her birth parents names. We also had 4 new arrivals at Baan King Kaew last Monday.
We also met John Manning, who fosters children out of ICU and
nurses then till they are well enough to return to their families. He is caring for a baby called Toto but unfortunately he has more things wrong with him than right so his long term prognosis is not good. At least he will know he was loved by us all during his short stay on this earth.
Christmas will be over now and the New Year would have started so hopefully we would have had a fantastic Christmas with the children of Piyawat (
http://piyawatorphanage.com) and celebrated my birthday in style and settling into another year of fundraising and giving the children the love that they all need to flourish and develop.

Light Up A Life
The Christmas
tree at ACCORD miraculously survived the winds last week and on Friday night over 350 people took part in our procession and lighting ceremony at the Hospice. To date almost 2000 names have been entered into this year’s Book of Honour, and once again the Appeal has played a major part in our Christmas fundraising programme. It is not too late to ‘light up a life’ in memory or in honour of a loved one as the Appeal will stay open until twelth night. ACCORD expect around £15,000 to have been raised in total.
Charity Challenge
The management of Xscape have organised a charity challenge in aid of ACCORD for Tuesday 7th February. The idea is to time all of the competitors as they complete a set of challenges including sledging, ten pin bowling, basketball, snowball throwing, crazy golf plus others. Minimum sponsorship or entry is £20 /£10 (under 16) or a family for £50. Please contact
fundraising@accord.org.uk or phone 0141 581 2000 for more information. This is a great way of experiencing lots of the Xcsape activities and we hope lots of people will be able to come along.
