Langbank Playgroup
Playgroup in Langbank celebrated St Andrew’s Day with a Scottish themed session and were joined by some wonderful Cèilidh dancers from the local primary. Playgroup children and staff were entranced by their dancing and music and then learnt some steps so that we could join in and great fun was had by all.
We did very well, even with complicated sequences, and would like to thank the teacher and schoolgirls for coming along and being so patient.
For the
day, we dressed in blue and white or tartan and also got crafty with the scissors, glue and paint to make Scottish flags and designed our own tartans too. It was just another busy Friday morning at Playgroup and we look forward to more sessions in 2012 and to welcoming some new faces and preparing our
big
children and their families for school.

Pupils should Abbey Nursery
Happy New Year to all our parents and we hope you had a great Christmas. We love January at Abbey Nursery as it is always full of great stories from the children about their Christmas holiday; their presents and funny anecdotes from this festive time!
We should also remind prospective parents about our Open Day on Saturday 28th January which is a great opportunity to come and look around the nursery; meet the staff and ask lots of questions. Spaces in the baby room are always in great demand and planning early can put your mind at rest when returning to work.
This is also a busy planning time with staff - and children - full of new ideas for the coming year. In particular our Children’s Eco Committee will be working hard to get their Green Flag award in 2012 and joining the Houston
community again in supporting Fairtrade Fortnight in February. Following the children’s visit to the Science Museum in December to learn more about stars and space, this leads into our January ‘Winter Wonderland’ theme when we hope to see snowflakes under the microscope and look at weather patterns across the world.
