St Columba Church Toddler and Playgroup

Happy New Year everyone! What a busy time we’ve been having at Playgroup recently. Before all the Christmas celebrations got into full swing we celebrated Diwali in November. Look at this handsome young man in traditional costume! It was a great session with some new foods to try, traditional clothes and music, stories plus a lovely candle picture to make to celebrate and learn about the festival. Then it was our unannounced Care Inspectorate visit and we are delighted to be awarded a “Good” for quality of care and support to the service users and a “Very Good” for the quality of management and leadership of the service. The Inspector noted that the children appear happy and relaxed with us and that staff are good role models. We look forward to implementing her suggestions to make the service even better in 2012!

Come and visit us at any time in the New Year when we’ll be learning about our senses and also Chinese New Year. For information regarding playschool call our membership secretary Katriona on 01505 873072. If you would like to find out about the Toddler group then call Tracy on 07742 229 489. You can also find us on Facebook to keep up to date with everything that’s going on.

On the 7th December Kilbarchan Primary had a visit from the assessor for Eco Schools. All of the children from the Eco Committee worked really hard to try and earn their second Eco flag. Some children showed the assessor round inside the school and some gave her a tour of the school grounds. She spent some time talking to the adults in the school who help the Eco committee then left saying she would phone later in the day with her decision. Anna from primary 7 took the phone call and was delighted to tell everyone that they had successfully earned a second Eco flag.

A huge thanks to P7 pupils who organised our “Children in Need” events. Children were involved in “Dress Spotty”, “Name the Bear’s birthday”, an awareness raising assembly as well as individual class activities. A total of £326.15 was raised!
