Rising above Recession
Welcome to another year in the ever changing world of property! 2011 was a challenging one, but for Cochran Dickie Estate Agency the past twelve months proved to be successful given the global economic situation.
The property landscape has changed so much in the last few years that it now takes a lot more from your estate agent to sell your property than perhaps it did when the market was very buoyant. This is why those estate
agents that can give more attention to each property and market them to their full potential will see more successful sales.
We all know that one of our first ports of call when we are looking for property is the internet. Websites like
rightmove.co.uk,
zoopla.co.uk and
s1homes.co.uk are where we would expect to see our property advertised and where we would go to find one. One of the propositions that set Cochran Dickie apart as an independent agent is the fact that they can advertise your property on all these websites including
gspc.co.uk &
cochrandickie.co.uk, not just one of them.
Cochran Dickie still claim that if you have a well maintained property in a good address then it can sell in a reasonable period of time.
Now is proving to be an excellent time to buy for the long term. If you are looking to move to a bigger home then, with the current low interest rates and attractive property prices, you may not find a better time to buy for the next 10 years. We anticipate in the next few months, we will see an increase in the amount of properties coming to the market, so why not get in contact with Cochran Dickie to find out what fantastic properties we will have coming to the market in 2012.
The Association of Speakers Clubs - Speech Competition Hat Trick
For the third time in a row a team from St Stephen’s High School, Port Glasgow were the winners of the Youth Speech Competition held recently in Inverclyde Academy, Greenock. Their team of Gina Meahan-Chairperson, Jennifer Goode-Main Speaker and Ross Patrick-Vote of Thanks chose the subject of ‘In what ways would YOU improve Education for young people?’
They were presented with an engraved ‘ice wedge’ trophy commemorating their efforts. The runners up were the Greenock Notre Dame High School team of Chloe Quinn, Mari Shaw and Daire Coyle and their chosen subject was: ‘Is giving financial aid the best way to help countries in after a natural disaster?’
The Chief Judge, Graham McLachlan complimented the teams for the high standards of their efforts and gave constructive advice to achieve improvements. Hunter Wilson, Club President said the youngsters were a credit to their schools and families and thanked their teachers for their strong support and encouragement which would help their pupils in their future careers.
Eight teams took part in the Final of the 2011 Inverclyde Youth Speech Competition organised by Renfrew Speakers Club. Similar competitions are planned for schools in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire; culminating in a grand final of the first and second teams from each of the competitions.
Kilmacolm Camera Club
KCC members have continued to defy rain, snow and apocalyptic gales to get their fix of photography. One of our set subject competitions later in the season is on “Weather”, and we’ve certainly had our fair share of that in recent weeks!
We were enlightened and entertained by Janice Stevenson, one of our Competition Secretaries, on the dark arts of “Layers” as used on Photoshop. This can be a very complex and powerful tool for manipulating digital images, but Janice showed us a number of applications which can be picked up by the most hardened photographic Luddite.
distress
Our latest competition, “People and Faces”, was judged last month by David McKelvie, of Greenock. That evening turned out to be the Bill Ham Show (and not for the first time!). Bill swept the boards with a 1-2-3 in both the Prints and Digital sections. His images included “Wistful Twosome” (shown here). In joint 3rd with Bill in the Digital category was David Walker, with “Low Budget Vasectomy” (don’t ask!).
Intrigued? Come along and find out more at KCC in KNCC (sounds more like a US radio station!). Venue: Kilmacolm New Community Centre, Room 1.01; Tuesday evening, time 7.30pm. Contacts: Billy Blair, Tel: 873383 or Janice Stevenson, Tel 873595.
