Events Worthy Putting on the Glitz: Eat, Drink and Be Dazzled
Atlantic City, NJ March 31, 2011 Atlantic Cape Community College held its 28th Annual Restaurant Gala at Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino. With a Roaring Twenties theme, “Putting on the Glitz: Eat, Drink and Be Dazzled,” the award-winning event featured the specialties of more than 35 of the Atlantic City region’s restaurants and various hors d’oeuvres prepared by students at the Academy of Culinary Arts. The Gala hosted nearly 800 guests and raised $192,000 for student scholarships.
Chef Marvin Woods, a 1985 graduate of the Academy of Culinary Arts, was honored for his culinary achievements. Woods is a cookbook author, TV host and kicked off First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. Lynn Guthrie Baumgardner, owner of Guthrie Glass & Mirror, was honored as a philanthropic community leader.

Get Their Cake On Philadelphia, PA April 11, 2011 - Fondant food- ies converged on Loews Philadelphia for the 7th Annual "Let Them Eat Cake" event benefiting City of Hope. Forty professionals and students created masterpieces with the theme being Historical Romance ~ Love in any Age.
Philadelphia’s Ben Franklin, along with co- founders Harry Giordano, Executive Director of City of Hope Northeast Region, and Mark Kingsdorf, Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants, kicked-off the event. A tasting competition was led by judges Marc Mathias and Benny Rivera of City Cakes NY, who were featured on Amazing Cakes, along with Chefs Brian Duffy, Kathy Gold, In the Kitchen Cooking Company, Monica Glass, Ritz- Carlton's 10Arts, Aliza Green, Kristin and Ann- Michelle Albertson, Albertson's Cooking School, and Feastivities’ Meryl Snow, to name a few.
