“The Road to Harrisburg: The Pennsylvania Breadbasket” looks at the Civil War from the Confederate side, detailing General Lee’s strategy and attempt to capture the state’s capital city and the detour that led both sides to meet at Gettysburg.

Gettysburg is a growing meeting destina- tion; one that will continue to use its rich history as a backdrop for the millions of visitors who come to town every year.

In 2011, Historic Gettysburg kicks off its 150th Anniversary Commemoration of the Civil War, beginning five years of remembering the war’s most famous conflict and Abraham Lincoln’s renowned Gettysburg Address.
Through 2015 and beyond, Gettysburg is expected to welcome new visitors from around the world that will use this 150th commemoration as an incentive to bring meetings, conferences and conventions to this small, but monumental town. Groups will enjoy new and expanded pro- grams, tours and events throughout the commemoration.

With the help of accounts taken directly from the generals themselves to the nation’s most renowned Lincoln presen- ter, Gettysburg is drawing attention in the meeting industry.
Places to Meet
With more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space, along with another 50,000 square feet at the adjacent All- Star Events Complex, the Eisenhower Hotel is among the largest meeting ven- ues in the region. Home to 307 rooms, it features on site catering and numerous amenities, all within a couple miles of Gettysburg’s battlefield.
The Majestic Theater recently opened after an extensive 16-month renovation project, and features a large theater for 800 people, two smaller theaters or breakout rooms, as well as food service in the balcony.
Located in the heart of downtown Gettysburg on Lincoln Square, the his- toric Best Western Gettysburg Hotel - established in 1797 - has been a prime location for meetings for over 200 years.
With a 3,300-square foot ballroom and three smaller breakout rooms, the hotel features two restaurants and works with numerous museums and tours in town to create expanded meeting experiences.
