Home Canning Basics
By home canning fresh food you can lower grocery bills and improve the nutritional value of the fruits and vegetables you use to prepare snacks and meals. Learn about the tools and equipment you will need to can berries to make jams, cucumbers to make pickles, tomatoes to use in chili and goulash next winter and more. Just imagine the culinary delights you can create and share as gifts! No canning done in class.

John Gavin Cooking with Garden Fresh Herbs
It’s the perfect time of the year to grow and use fresh herbs snipped right from the plant. Create and enjoy a wide range of foods that beg for some of the most popular fresh herbs like basil, cilantro, oregano, thyme, rosemary, mint and more. Marinades for the BBQ, a unique slaw and salsa, quinoa tabouli, Hollandaise, a refreshing beverage and of course, pesto.

Learn how to make a complete Chinese meal of dumplings (pot stickers), spring rolls with dipping sauce, fried rice and sweet-n-sour chicken without waiting for the delivery driver. Belly Dance: Level 1
Belly dancing combines the beauty of musical expression with the benefits of a cardiovascular workout. Build upper and lower body strength through Middle Eastern dance. This class covers basic belly dancing techniques and movements. Dancewear and bare feet are preferred. Dance supplies will be available for purchase from the instructor.

Continue to expand your skills and refine those isolations on which you worked so hard in Belly Dancing 1. The instructor will introduce choreography and you will learn to connect movements. Please bring finger cymbals and a veil (3.5 yards by 1.25 yards of light weight chiffon or silk material). They are also available for purchase through the instructor.

Here is where we will really dance and go beyond just exercise! We will work to perfect isolations and layers of movement and perform. There will be at least two performances for students - more if time allows. In preparation, we will work on presentation; like costumes, make-up and attitude. Prerequisite: Belly Dance Level 2 or at the teacher’s recommendation. No class July 4.
