Health Buzz: New CPR Guidelines

You may have seen it in the news: the American Heart As- sociation recently issued new 2010 guidelines for admin- istering CPR, which make saving lives much simpler for bystanders. The new standards emphasize quality chest compressions. Recent research shows that victims are 1.5 times more likely to survive with the new methods.

Because of the dramatic change in CPR methods, everyone with current CPR certification will need to take the three- hour Heartsaver CPR course to be re-certified. The new cer- tifications will be valid for two years. At that point, we will offer refresher classes to renew your certification.

If you need to renew your American Red Cross certification in adult, infant, and child CPR, the three-hour Heartsaver course will provide certification in all three, plus AED!
