Merkur Gaming is the international arm of the Gauselmann Group from eastern Westphalia in Germany. Furthermore, Merkur Gaming is providing the industry with a very innovative money-handling solution – the banknote recycler Merkur Dispenser 100. The Merkur Dispenser 100 has a patented three-drum banknote recycling system, allowing it to recycle up to 102 notes and pay these back in up to three different denominations.

The German commercial gaming (AWP) market has underdone what many see as a revolution since the introduction of the new Gaming Ordinance in 2006. The

player preference towards multi-game, video-based AWP’s has redefined this market segment. This low-stake and prize entertainment form is offered in what many operators now term ‘entertainment centres’. They are not just arcades as their style and level of investment demand a much more sophisticated term.

A further trend is evident: Players prefer to receive their winnings in banknotes as much as possible. The Merkur Dispenser 100 is making this possible as it allows banknote recycling within the individual AWP. The feedback from German operators is excellent.

Elfriede Lauser, Managing Director of the well-known Lauser operating company in Germany, states, “The focus is on the player – waiting for winnings to be paid out costs time and lost revenue. The Merkur Dispenser 100 solves this. The Merkur Dispenser 100 is fitted in each and every AWP I have in the bars / restaurants segment. This product is particularly important for AWP’s at

motorway service areas. Players are on the move…waiting for winnings to be paid out is even more frustrating and costly. The employees here do not carry the change for the AWP’s. They would have to call their bosses to refill the machines. The Merkur Dispenser 100 not only solves all these issues but the up- time ensures that a player can continue playing after a win if he or she wishes to. This up-time generates more revenue. Putting in simply: The Merkur Dispenser 100 saves costs, increases player satisfaction and increases revenue. It is an excellent product.”

The Merkur Dispenser 100 advantages are not just being seen in the German AWP market. AWP and gaming machine manufacturers around the globe are seeing more and more the long-term benefits this investment is for themselves and the players. Demand is growing internationally and gaming manufacturers who have integrated the Merkur Dispenser 100 include Rupp Games in Austria and Blueprint Gaming in the UK.
