RAY’s new online gaming site is expected to generate €25m during its first year


Finland's Slot Machine Association (RAY) has launched its now online gaming offer. Ray.fi is a Finnish service that offers a wide range of slot machines, casino table games, and online poker. To play on the ray.fi site, players must register and be 18 years of age or older.


RAY has opened its Finnish online gaming specifically to service Finnish-only consumers. The official monitoring of the service and the wide range of games guarantee a unique and safe way of playing online games in Finland. Registration requires online banking identification. In addition, the system verifies the player’s age and identity from the Finnish Population Register Centre.


The new distribution channel is expected to generate approximately €25 million during the first year of operation. The RAY gaming service offers more than 150 different games. Various slot machines make up the largest part of the extensive gaming service range. In addition the site

Gaming in the Ray.fi service is controlled both by the authorities and the limits set by the players themselves. A maximum amount of €5,000 is allowed on the gaming account, and no money can be transferred to the gaming account between midnight and 6 a.m. The player may lose a maximum of €500 on the slot machines and casino games within one day. In addition, the players must set personal gaming limits.


Newregulations in the NewYear for Belarussia


The Belarussian gambling industry is set to have new restrictions imposed upon it according to a decree signed by President Lukashenko. The document states that as of 2011 gambling operations will be run exclusively by legal entities of the Republic of Belarus. The authority in charge of implementing the state policy will be the Ministry of Taxes and Duties.


As of 2011, slot halls will be allowed in Belarus only in premises of at least 100sq.m., and casinos of at least 250sq.m. This restriction will not be applied to facilities in hotels and hotel complexes of 3-star and higher. The gaming tax rates will be established not in euros but in Belarussian rubles, without differentiation based on the location of taxable items and on the quantity of gaming equipment.


It will be forbidden to place gaming facilities in capital buildings, in residential houses, premises of state authorities, banks and other credit and finance entities, post and electrical communication offices, health and other recreational institutions, cultural and physical sports facilities (asides betting shops and pari mutuel offices). As of April 1, 2011, the average slot percentage return to players in Belarus should be at least 90 per cent. As of July 1, 2012, a computer cash desk system must be put into operation, making it possible to exercise online control over cash flow of gaming facilities, as well as the implementation of a player protection program, limiting access of the underaged and other categories of citizens specified by the state laws.
