G2E LAS VEGAS Insight

into the bill validator the time difference really stacks up. In addition, the improved recognition system reacts faster to fraudulent notes by utilising proactive security and transmissive sensors to see all the way through the note.

The Advance also features an expanded memory, raising its note memory from the SC's 46 to 100 notes in the new model. As mentioned, barcode acceptance for coupons is now a standard feature, though MEI have catered to demands from the Asian market to ensure that barcodes inserted in any direction will be accepted by the Advance.

MEI has evolved from a component supplier to a partner of the gaming industry. As such the technology on display at G2E in Vegas has been developed with the OEM and operator in mind. The form-factor of the new Advance is exactly the same as the SC, which enables operators to simply update the head unit of their existing SC without needing to replace the cashbox. Operators can also run the SC Advance and SC models on their floors at the same time, making switch out easy and at the operator's pace, and ensuring compatibility with MEI's associated products, such as the EASITRAX Soft Count (which is hugely important as the installed base of EASITRAX has now exceeded 65,000).

MEI also showed a range of cashboxes in Vegas that expand the capabilities of the CASHFLOW with a SDX model featuring a deeper cashbox, SCL which has a cassette bag (used primarily in retail) and SCXL, which can accommodate up to 22,000 notes as used in retail safes.

A extremely attractive proposition -MEI launched its new CASHFLOWSCAdvance at the G2E exhibition inVegas

The CASHFLOW SC Advance is the next generation bill and coupon validation solution from MEI. Building on the incredible success for the CASHFLOW series (the millionth CASHFLOW SC was on show at G2E), the new Advance increases jam performance, enhances note acceptance and security, and includes

acceptance of barcodes for the first time.

In a side by side demonstration at G2E, the new SC Advance raced its predecessor in a note acceptance challenge, taking its bill in just 2.3 seconds as opposed to the SC's 2.8 seconds. It's an incremental difference, but when feeding several notes

millionth CASHFLOW SC.

"The CASHFLOW SC began as a value- added product that was placed in slot machines," said MEI Marketing Director, Andy Rechlin. "Today, that role has expanded to security and cash management throughout operations. The increased functionality associated with SC Advance will continue to escalate the value derived from MEI products and accompanying services."

Recognising the growing demand for recycling products, MEI also showed two intriguing products in Vegas, a larger four note recycler and a single note device. Already established and proven in the retail and vending sectors, MEI is looking to create a product between these two models that it believes will be perfect for gaming. The device will return notes to the player rather than coins utilising MEI's advanced validation technology and wide experience in the recycling market in vending and retail. Watch this space.
