in this part of the world. The sheer number of non-Chinese speaking visitors says a lot about the show - that PALM Expo is an event that all discerning trade visitors from the continent simply cannot miss.” Just some of the highlights, which were amongst the offerings included: The first tradeshow outing for Robert Juilat’s new profile Aledin since its launch at Prolight + Sound earlier this year; the launch of a new product series for Martin Audio, the Beatline Series which is only available in China and is particularly suitable for KTV rooms, it also had the new MLA line array on show (launched in Frankfurt); Meyer Sound showed its latest addition to the line array family, MINA; and Sennheiser presented the Evolution Wireless G3 range, Neumann microphones and K-array speakers. In the last 18 months or so of tough trading conditions, Asia on the whole seems to be one of the major regions that has kept many companies afloat, and despite things beginning to pick up and move in the right direction now, Asia is still playing a huge part in sales, and it’s quite possible this will continue until the worldwide market recovers fully. And nudging this suggestion into reality is Franco Zaghini, VP of Sales for DTS said: “We are expecting a 20% increase in sales world-

wide. However, in the China market itself, we are forecasting growth to be more than 100%. PALM Expo is an important catalyst for us achieving our target. For example, on the first day there were more visitors to our booth than last year, with 60% being professional end-users and dealers.” To top it all off there was a week full of sumptuous evening events to attend, with many toasting success in some shape or form, further supporting the idea that industry may well be on the road to recovery. Having conducted some successful meetings during the show, discovering an insight into arguably China’s most expe- rienced tradeshow with very positive results, and sampling some culinary delights, PALM Expo Beijing definitely has a high place in the list for ‘must attend’ trade- shows. Marc Vincent, Managing Director, of Sennheiser China is like minded, he said: “The PALM Expo show is a must participate exhibition, as it is the biggest in China. There is big circulation of both international and local trade visitors and end users. The atmosphere of the show is simply amazing. Every single major brand is here, as they believe there is a big future in China - not only in the mainland, but also in Hong Kong and Macau.” Palm Expo returns to China International Exhibition Centre on 26 - 29 May 2011.
