034 REPORT
BARRIERE
Location: Lille, France Company: ETC, Philips
Designed by internationally renowned architect Jean-Paul Viguier, the stunning new Hôtel Casino Barrière de Lille in France includes a 12,000 sq metre casino on two levels as well as a five-star hotel, a theatre, three restaurants and four theme bars, where all the house lighting is controlled by a network of ETC Unison Paradigm systems. Project manager for ETC’s French distributor ATF, Christian Rezgui, explained: “The venue specified the Unison control system so that they would have complete control over their house lighting across the building. Touch screens and key operated panels have been installed in the hotel reception, bar, game rooms and restaurants, each capable of operating a range of DMX devices and interfaces including spot- lights and scene lighting. One of the specifications of the system was that it should
be able to run a special chase sequence when a jackpot is paid to a customer - something that the new Paradigm system is perfect for.” ATF, together with Lyon-based equipment installer Audio Equipement, fitted five Unison Paradigm processor systems and 12 touch screens and button stations across the site. Some of the lighting, while triggered by the Paradigm system, runs on the DALI protocol, for which five Philips Dynalite button stations were fitted. ETC Net3 was installed as the network control backbone throughout the building. Stage lighting in the theatre was supplied by CSE of Lille, who also installed ETC Sensor dimming and an ETC Congo jr control desk.

RIVER SPIRIT
Location: Tulsa, USA Company: Fine Art
Based in Guangzhou, Fine Art has made progress in the Chinese market and around the world with its innovations in stage lighting, architectural equipment and LED products. One of the firms recent installations is at the new Creek Nation-owned, River Spirit Casino. The programmable intelligent fixtures and state of the art control system are part of the features at the casino’s Mystic River Lounge. The lighting design incorporates conventional and programmable fixtures, including the new Fine Art 700 spot and wash luminaires. These units are placed on a ‘V’ shaped downstage truss and a circular truss over the stage area. The design’s principal objective was to create an exciting visual environment with rich and bright colours, thrilling stunts and breathtaking aerial performance. “Fine700 spot and wash have an incredible light output, as well as a vast array of colours, from full chroma saturation through to more subtle pastels” said Kevin Martin, Head Sales and Service of distributor Omni Lighting, Tulsa. “I found it a great tool for the design, especially when available power is limited. We are really happy with the equipment’s comprehensive features and effects.” Omni’s primary business to date has been production services, rentals, installa- tions and staging of large scale lighting systems for events. The new section of the company Omni Lighting Sales and Services has a full array of lighting products for sale and installation.
