Ho Chi Minh City’s newest venue is the result of an original idea by the owner Nguyen Vo Viet Nam and General Marketing Manger Nguyen Minh Trang. However, the completed venue was developed through the combined ideas, contributions and efforts of a group of close friends. Thus the name WE. According to Ms Trang, it was a project of friendship. “WE has many friends who have professional experiences in the business. They contributed lots of ideas and suggestions during the building period. From the colour scheme to the feel of the lounge, to the choice of speakers and various other important facets”. Mr Nam and Ms Trang listened closely to all the ideas friends had to offer and the multi- levelled venue was completed just eight months after they first came up with the concept. Located in HCMC’s District 3, a neighbourhood that is known for fine dining restaurants and entertainment spots, each level of the building is 200 square metres and can accommodate 170 guests. On entering the venue, it initially feels like an elongated upscale restaurant cafe. It’s not until absorbing the entirety of the place that its unique aspects become apparent. The restaurant cafe is just the ground floor, upstairs is the lounge bar and their exceptional coup d’état, WE Hall, is on the top floor. It is a compact performance space with a raised stage lit by Robe Clubspot 160CT moving heads and outfitted with four Nexo PS15R2 speakers, and two Nexo RS15C sub speakers powered by Nexo amps, with sound control courtesy of a Soundcraft LX7II mixer. “WE is performing as a venue where everybody can enjoy their time at anytime of the day,” said Ms Trang, “WE Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 7am till 11pm. WE Lounge serves a great selection of wines and cocktails, with tasty finger foods from 4pm till 1am. WE Hall hosts performances from top singers in Vietnam and from overseas.” Asked why they chose Bao Duong Co Ltd., to complete the install Ms Trang’s reply was succinct: “WE chose Bao Duong because they are the best and WE wanted the best.” WE specifically caters to local business people, expats and the fashion crowd, whom they keenly encourage feedback from to keep enhancing the WE experience.
