metres of floor space (up 20% on last year) and showcased their latest offerings to the 193,000 visitors who attended the four day show. A general observation from attendees of the show who have visited Beijing before, was there seemed to have been a clamp down on the city’s nightlife, and although this was never really backed up with hard facts, if it was in fact true then it certainly didn’t seem to be reflected at the show, with plenty of exhibitors telling of recent projects within the local entertainment industry. In my opinion, the first day seemed to be the busiest of all, with Robe Sales Director Harry von den Stemmen in agreement, he said: “PALM Expo 2010 is busier than last year. The show has been filling up rapidly every day from the opening hours. By the time I arrive in the morning, it is already packed.” The first day was in stark contrast to the last day when some exhibitors began tearing down their stands at around 11am, just two hours after opening, however this is not unusual for a Chinese tradeshow. PALM Expo attracts many international manufacturers such as Martin Professional, Philips, DTS, Martin Audio, Sennheiser and Nexo to name just a handful, as well as home-grown manufacturers such as PR Lighting, Fine Art and Yifeng Lighting. The major distributors such as Leafun who represent Robe, Avolites, Antari and RCF, EAD who look after Behringer, DiGiCo, and Adamson, ACE who distribute the Haman brands, as well as Clay Paky, are also very important fixtures at the show. Jamie Boey, Area Sales Manager for Robert Juliat explained how the show has grown over time: “Through the years, PALM Expo has developed and become the most important trade exhibition
