HA LONG CLUB

Ha long Bay, vietnam ASIA/PACIFIC/OCEANIA

Ha Long is located about 160km northeast of Hanoi, and is literally translated as Descending Dragon. Ha Long Bay under the administration of Ha Long City, is experiencing rapid growth not just in tourism but also as a place upon the main road to southern China. What is reputedly Vietnam’s largest disco was conceived and created by Bui Minh Hong and Do Van Minh, farsighted businessmen who are developing entertainment and tourism in Ha Long City with their company Ha Long Trading - Service - Tourism - Entertainment Jointstock Company. It was originally constructed just over two years ago but underwent extensive remodelling that was completed in December 2009. Ha Long Club stretches over 500 square metres, and a capacity of up to 1,500 people and is targeted at a clientele of local and foreign tourists plus a new generation of young Vietnamese who travel from all over northern Vietnam just to experience a new world of entertainment technology that was previously unavailable to them. At first, it’s location looked to be a disadvantage as it is not in the central area of Ha Long City, but the club’s position, on the major road leading into Ha Long from Hanoi has turned out to be very convenient for customers and, because the venue is on a hill overlooking Ha Long Bay, the beautiful views are an added attraction. As well as this, there is a large car park to accommodate customers who make the journey to the club. Despite strong competition from other nightclubs closer to the city centre, the venue has now established itself as the most successful clubs in Ha Long and many of those other venues have closed down. Ha Long Club’s powerful Martin Audio sound system, made up of eight W8LM’s, four W8LMD’s, 16 H3’s and 18 S218’s and powered by Martin Audio amplifiers, is widely regarded as being the best in the country and a key feature of the lighting is a broad LED screen that emphasises tropical beauty in conjunction with ArKaos

software, a popular VJing choice in Vietnam. Through in-depth discussion with other club creators and doing extensive market research, the owners chose Tri Thanh-Auviso Ltd., and one of Vietnam’s leading sound engineers, Pham Duy Duc of Viet Thuong Trading Service Manufacturing Corporation to supply equipment and do the new install. Duc was also highly recommended by the previous owners of Ha Long Club. His task was to create a sound quality that would be way beyond what clubbers had ever heard before and in a venue that was considerably larger and with a much greater ceiling height. In the Vietnam clubbing environment, quality audio expectations are ever-increasing and to compete with the existing clubs and other brands, Duc went to Ha Long City to see (and hear) what they were up against, and consequently the decision to go with Martin Audio was made.
