Sharm El Sheikh
Experience famous dive sites at
Ras Mohammed, Tiran Island and
the legendary Thistlegorm wreck
Sharm El Sheikh offers a spectacular and
diverse range of dive sites that are amongst the
best in the world. From the famous Ras
Mohammed Marine Park, to some of the most
renowned wrecks in the Red Sea, the sheer
number of sites means that there is something
for all divers.
DIVING RAS MOHAMMED
The exciting dive sites of Ras Mohammed Marine
Park are what attract the legions of experienced
divers to Sharm El Sheikh each year. Situated at
the tip of Sinai, where the Gulfs of Suez and
Aqaba meet, Ras Mohammed’s strong currents
and nutrient rich waters are packed with schools
of snapper, barracuda and jacks. Stalking them
are many species of shark - silkies, greys, and
even the occasional hammerhead and oceanic
whitetip. Steep coastal cliffs are mirrored
underwater with impressive vertical walls, which
drop off to 700m or more.
FROM EXHILARATING DRIFT DIVES TO
PLENTIFUL REEFS
A collection of reefs rising out of the deep water
span the Straits of Tiran. Here the strong currents
and dense plankton attract an impressive range of
reef and deep sea species, providing some
exceptional drift dives. Locally there are many
easily accessible coral gardens with safe, shallow
water and good visibility, ideal for conducting
training dives.
LEGENDARY WRECKS
Further west, round the southern tip of Sinai, lie
some of the best wreck dives in the Red Sea. The
legendary Thistlegorm is the most famous - a 415
foot World War II British supply ship which lies at
30m with an amazing cargo of motorbikes, trucks,
guns and shells. This wreck is now home to huge
groupers, snapper, bannerfish and barracuda.
