Judges faced a tough decision in this category BMI
but Qatar finally triumphed because of the
“transformation” of its trade relations over Cathay Pacific Airways
the last year, its excellent onboard product
and expanding network. Qatar faced stiff Emirates
competition from other airlines, which were
praised for excellent product and customer Etihad Airways
service. But the judges decided to reward the
fresh approach to the trade brought in by Iceland Express
Qatar’s new UK sales team: this included
making online offers available to agents, new Swiss International
partnerships with tour operators, a series of Air Lines
trade roadshows and fam trips, and the
launch of a new online training programme Thomson Airways
for agents. Judges also felt the carrier’s solid
financial base gave customers reassurance
during a turbulent time for the airline industry
and there was unanimous praise for the
excellence of Qatar’s customer service.
