In a shortlist dominated by established multi- Virgin Holidays
destination specialists, Caribtours persuaded Highly commended
the judges that its performance within its core
market and its growth in other long-haul Gold Medal Travel
destinations made it a worthy winner of this
award. Its entry clearly reflected a company Kuoni Travel
that had made excellent use of available
resources and responded well to economic Thomson
conditions with the introduction of new
product in the past 12 months to appeal to Travel 2
new customer segments. In a closely fought
category, judges felt Caribtours’ entry made
a compelling case for it to be considered
alongside some powerhouses of the long-haul
sector. And the detailed evidence illustrating
the returns it had seen on its strategy in the
past 12 months eventually nudged it ahead of
some outstanding competition, most notably
Virgin Holidays, which came a close second.
