August, 2015 Buckeye Shapeform: Customized Enclosures
Columbus, OH — Gone are the days when enclosure manufacturers of- fered a one-size-fits-all enclosure.
Since Buckeye Shapeform began to offer customers online capability to- customize standard enclosure de-
signs, the numbers are showing that- customers like it and that it also speeds up the process of getting a product to market. Enclosure manufacturer Buck-
eye Shapeform has added a CAD func- tion to its website, which includes a catalog of thousands of enclosures that the company can produce for its cus- tomers. Now that it has been in place for about a year, the data shows that customers like the ability to take the CAD design, download it, customize it and send it back to Buckeye Shape- form for manufacturing. In the past eight months alone, customers have downloaded 500 designs. Most enclosure manufacturers
offer a large number of standard cas- esthat come in a variety of sizes, ma- terials, styles and configurations. Few offer the customization that Buckeye Shapeformoffers. Parker Hannifin’s Hydraulic
Pump Division recently used the CAD function after contacting Buckeye Shapeform because the company- wanted to improve its current enclo-
sure. Buckeye Shapeform suggested that the client use the standard Xpand-A custom aluminum enclosure because of its rigidness and versatili- ty in size. After sending Parker Han- nifin a sample enclosure, which the customer liked, Buckeye Shapeform suggested that they download the three-dimensional CAD model from

no cost, in Ladder Diagram, Function Block, and Structured Text lan- guages, providing a high level of ap- plication capability. If an application has unique I/O, communications, or packaging requirements, the Divel- biss P- Series PLC on a Chip allows custom controllers to be developed quickly and easily. Developed with cellular commu-
nications in mind from the begin- ning, the Divelbiss VersaCloud M2M platform utilizes a low-overhead in- dustry-standard communications protocol to minimize data usage. This protocol allows sending and receiving messages using a little as 150 bytes of data. In addition to cellular, cloud communications may also be per- formed over Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Pri- vate cellular network and server op-
