TiP300 is a new wireless temperature sensor technology developed by Pro-micron and tuned to the specific requirements of condensation soldering with the CondensoX series from Rehm Thermal Sys- tems. The technology has been named WPS 2.4 (Wireless Profiling System). The WPS 2.4 is a temperature measurement system used for precise de-


tection of the reflow profile in condensation soldering processes. North America Has Record Start to 2015 Ann Arbor, MI — North American sales of machine vision systems and com- ponents grew 22 percent in the first quarter of 2015, the market’s highest first quarter total in history, according to new statistics issued by AIA, the indus- try’s trade group. Total machine vision sales include sales of machine vision systems and components. The machine vision systems category saw a year- over-year increase of 24 percent. Machine vision systems include smart cam- eras and application-specific machine vision (ASMV) systems. In the first quarter, smart cameras expanded by 23 percent, while ASMV systems in- creased 24 percent. Similarly, machine vision components had a strong quar- ter with 11 percent growth over the first quarter of 2014. The leading product categories within machine vision components in terms of growth were light-

Ametek to Acquire Surface Inspection


Systems Division of Cognex Berwyn, PA — Ametek, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Surface Inspection Systems Division (SISD) of Cognex Corporation (NAS- DAQ: CGNX). The closing of the transaction is subject to customary closing con- ditions, including applicable regulatory approvals. SISD develops and manufac- tures software-enabled vision systems used to inspect surfaces of continuously processed materials for flaws and defects. Their in-line image processing tech- nology detects, classifies, filters, and accurately maps specific defects over the entire area of the surface. End markets served include metals, paper, nonwo- vens, plastics and glass. SISD is headquartered in Hayward, CA. The SISD
