RUBIS IN JERSEY – FUELLING OUR ISLAND COMMUNITY By Nick Crolla, Head of Marketing, Rubis

RUBiS in Jersey plays a vital role in the Island’s economic, social and cultural well-being, fuelling our vehicles and vessels, heating our homes and striving to source the latest products.

RUBiS is the leading importer and distributor of liquid petroleum products into the Channels Islands, ensuring that our motoring, domestic heating, and marine fuel needs are taken care of. Less obvious, perhaps, is the sponsorship and support-in-kind for cultural events and social groups that are just as important to islanders as keeping warm in winter, and mobile all year round.

Events such as the Jersey International Festival of Motoring, Monster Trucks on the Waterfront, and the Guernsey International Air Display all benefit from the help that RUBiS gives.

The Jersey International Festival of Motoring is now one of the biggest events to be held in the Island, attracting thousands of participants and spectators from home and overseas. Starting with the Moonlight Sprints and including hill climbs and exhibition events, the Festival is now firmly established on the summer calendar and RUBiS remains a proud headline supporter.

New in 2014 and hoping to return this year, Monster Trucks and daredevil motorbike tricks provided an exhilarating experience at Jersey’s Waterfront at the start of the autumn and RUBiS was once again instrumental in helping this new event to be a resounding success, raising thousands of pounds for local charity.

But it’s not all petrol-heads and burning rubber. RUBiS also supports a number of important cultural events in the Island such as the Home and Lifestyle Show at Fort Regent, the International Food Festival and Funfair, as well as a large number of charitable organisations and

initiatives including Wetwheels Jersey, the island’s only powerboat dedicated to enabling disabled passengers to experience the joy of being at sea; Jersey Trees for Life, helping to conserve and renew Jersey’s natural landscape; the Police and Community Charity Fun Day, the Société Jersiaise, and in Guernsey the Victorian Walled Garden project and the Guernsey Sports Association for the Disabled.

In 2015 RUBiS is getting behind Jersey’s successful bid to host the NatWest Island Games, the largest sporting event held with thousands of competitors, coaches and supporters travelling from all over the world to take part.

RUBiS is very proud of our association with these events and organisations, and is glad to play such an important role in the cultural and social aspects of our local world.
