The Jersey air display costs almost £240,000 to stage each year and it is primarily funded by private sector sponsorship, a public grant and additional sums coming from programme sales, merchandise and a small charge to view static aircraft at the airport.


As we all know sponsorship is hard to obtain and secure these days and a great deal of time is spent securing and retaining sponsorship. This is never easy and has been especially difficult in recent years whilst the island has been in recession and so many people and organisations are competing for funds from the same pot.


The air display, however, is somewhat unique in what it can offer sponsors in return for their money. It is able to offer a wide range of aviation experiences such as flights in warbirds, fast jets, helicopters, seaplanes, and classic commercial airliners or with an aerobatic display team flying within six feet of each other. We can also offer the more adventurous a ride on the wings of barnstorming aircraft.


Technical expertise As flying and air displays can be dangerous they are highly regulated and air display organisers have to comply with a wide range of regulations laid down by civil and military authorities, including NATO. These govern such things as pilot licenses, standards, airworthiness of aircraft and what can and cannot be done by the participants and organisers of air displays.


The Jersey air display was one of the first to adopt a Flying Display Director and Flying Control Committee to ensure that it meets the highest safety standards. We are fortunate to have the expertise of
