With around 6,000 people expected to visit the Games Village daily, engaging the public in sporting and leisure activities, these pre-Games events will not only be a chance to showcase games maker skills but also to train them up to handle a variety of situations.


Looking ahead, the safety of those participating and the general public is of the upmost importance and 162 Waitrose Games Makers have already expressed interest in gaining their emergency and first aid training with 85 already qualified. Working with St John Ambulance, the Games Makers will receive vital, bespoke training


for the provision of high quality care in a variety of incidents.


The Waitrose Games Makers, recognisable in their purple uniforms, will be pivotal in ensuring the NatWest Island Games run as smoothly as possible making it an event the whole island can be proud of.


460 applicants signed up to participate with a further 200 on the waiting list
