ON THE GROUND

Heston to offer airport Perfection

Celebrity chef, Heston Blumenthal will open The Perfectionists’ Café at Heathrow’s newly-redeveloped Terminal 2 in June. Located immediately after Terminal 2 security, the Café will be inspired by Heston’s ‘In Search of Perfection’ TV series, and will celebrate some of Britain’s favourite dishes. The menus will be based on the

research and development work Blumenthal and his Experimental Kitchen Team have done on a selection of popular dishes to unlock their inherent perfection. Burgers at the café will, for example, be made by grinding all the meat grains in the same direction to maximise their juiciness and pizzas will be cooked in the first ever wood burning oven in an airport. The style of The Perfectionists’ Café will be nostalgic and hark back to the heyday of 1960’s passenger flights when air travel was deemed glamorous and travellers dressed in their best to fly. Terminal 2 will eventually serve 15.8 million passengers a year and be home to the Star Alliance, Aer Lingus, Virgin Atlantic Little Red and germanwings. heathrow.com
