Swiss tackles allergies head on


Swiss is stepping up its support for air passengers with allergies and has become the first airline in the world to meet the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation's (ECARF) criteria for 'allergy-friendly' airlines. Swiss has teamed up with ECARF to


offer passengers a more individualised service product if they have allergies including lactose-free coffee cream and a lactose-free version of the popular Swiss chocolate bar served onboard. Depending on the length of the flight,


Swiss passengers may further request special snacks (candy bars, yoghurt or cakes) that address their allergies. ECARF estimates that over 30% of


Europe's population are directly affected by one or more allergies and these also indirectly affect their family members too. Swiss is also making allergy-minded modifications to its cabins with synthetic pillows instead of down-filled versions in Business and First and the decision to no longer use decorative flowers and air fresheners inside the cabins. swiss.com

SkyTender innovates trolleys


SkyTender Systems has launched an innovative drinks trolley set to revolutionise onboard service. The Skytender trolley was a joint


venture between SkyMax and Air-Eltec, which claims to have pioneered the world's first fully-automatic, intelligent catering trolley system. The system fits into any standard Atlas


trolley to serve 10 hot or cold beverage choices. Three watertanks, a CO2 capsule and up to 10 syrup mixes are constantly monitored by the system's software to ensure flight crew never need run out of the service drinks. Hanns Rech, of the Skytender Systems


Advisory Board, says: “Easy to use and handle, this system makes service faster, more personalised and less expensive. It reduces weight and eliminates waste.” The system is designed to cater an


airline’s 10 most popular beverages and once loaded by the caterer can stay onboard for up to two weeks. Crews simply recharge the system’s batteries, replace used syrup cartridges and refill water tanks. Piloting of the system onboard begins this month. skytender.de

New menu for Eurostar Business


Raymond Blanc has launched new menus for Eurostar's Business Premier passengers, as well as a new breakfast and updated wine list. Eurostar’s Business Premier lunch,


afternoon tea and dinner menus have been refreshed to offer seasonal flavours. The new dishes focus on locally-sourced seasonal fruits and vegetables and feature some of Raymond’s own recipes including red pepper mousse, beetroot risotto and his famous chocolate delice. Responding to customer feedback,


Raymond Blanc has also worked with Eurostar’s kitchens in Kent, Burgundy and Brussels to create a new breakfast, which gives passengers a choice between a traditional cooked English breakfast of Yorkshire bacon and Surrey sausages with bubble and squeak, or lighter options such as organic low fat yoghurt, Eurostar's own summer bircher muesli and freshly-prepared fruit bowls. The new wine list has also been


selected to reflect the season and will rotate quarterly. New for the summer menus are lighter red wines such as ‘Brouilly’ and ‘Coteaux Bourguignons’. Raymond Blanc commented: “Choice is
