An excellent showing at ICE Totally Gaming saw VLT specialist E-gaming approved for a new market and sign contracts to guarantee its entry

Last year E-gaming set up a subsidiary for Spain along with Covimatic. Combining the forces of Spanish industry veteran Antonio Duran as the Sales Director, Cocamatic’s Javier Gutierrez as Financial Director, and Urbain Thewissen in charge of sales, the new entity hit the floor run- ning. More than 100 VLT's have already been installed on test in two communities in Spain where VLT regulation is already clear.

“Results are above expectations,” according to the company’s Urbain Thewissen. “E-gaming S.L. España signed these initial agreements during ICE as we received homologation for the Murcia community during the show. We have machines being tested in gaming laboratories so we should receive further homologations for other commu- nities soon. The future is looking bright for E- gaming as our products attract a lot of players.

Mr. Thewissen looks after sales for Latin America and Asia, again with some instant success with a couple of countries in Latin America testing its machines in several large casinos. “We are wait- ing for homologation in order to install our machines into another Latin American market, but we have already signed some important dis- tribution agreements,” Mr. Thewissen explained. “During this exhibition, we also signed our first agreement for Asia with installation set to take place in the coming weeks.”

Mr. Thewissen explained: “During the show operators from many countries where VLT oper- ation is allowed and regulated visited the E-gam- ing stand and for sure some new agreements will be signed as a result of these meetings soon.

New materials, Premier Decal Chips and a revamped MG Eye scanner were the highlights of the Matsui ICE booth

Last year was the best year for chips sales that Matsui Europe has recorded since 2007. The UK-based subsidiary of the Japanese parent supplies a full range of cash chips, wheel checks and plaques to the European gaming market and has found huge success with the introduction of its Premier Decal Chip (pictured right), a cross between a chip and a plaque that’s available in a range of attractive finishes and detailing.

“Casino operators are using the Premier Decal Chips in a variety of ways,” explained Dave Holt, Managing Director of Matsui Europe. “Some are using them as high value chips, while others are reserving them for plaque functions in VIP areas. The range looks very much like a plaque, but it is fully customiseable like a chip, as well as comprising all the security features we embedded into a regular casino chip.”

In addition to showing the Premier Decal Chip on the Matsui Gaming stand at ICE, the latest version of the company’s MG Eye Scanner also made its debut. The new MG Eye Scanner

(pictured far right) allows operators to quickly and easily visually check chips for embedded MG security features, which illuminate very clearly on the scanner window.

“It’s been a great show and another terrific year for Matsui Europe,” confirmed Mr. Holt. “In the UK we consolidated our chip orders with Grosvenor Casinos with the rebranding of its Gala Casino acquisitions and supplied the new Rainbow Casinos too. Europe has been a strong market with groups in Northern Cyprus - we

supplied the new Merit Casino and new Pasha Casino; at the recently opened Hit Casino Palace in Poland, Matsui supplied all the chips for the new Warsaw casino, and we have supplied a series of new casinos in Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and helped the Pullmantur Cruise Ship line rebranding with new chips and layouts. It’s been a great year for us and one that’s been helped by our expanded chip moulding range, which includes new materials and surfaces, including antique stone and sandstone chips, which have proved popular.”
