GUESTLOGIX hosted its annual User Group Conference in London last month taking it outside of North America for


the first time.


This was the fifth conference of its kind and welcomed more than 150 attendees from within the travel industry, including senior executives from dozens of the world’s leading airlines, travel technology providers and rail professionals. Experts in travel business and innovation came from as far as away as Hong Kong, New Zealand, UAE, the US and Canada, and from across Europe.


The UK capital was chosen for its proximity to an internatonal airport and for its location close to Guestlogix’s two European offices.


The conference gave attendees the opportunity to discuss the latest technological advances impacting the airline and passenger travel industries and topics debated included inflight entertainment, onboard payments, connectivity and the technologies driving onboard retailing.


Additional interactive sessions looked at inflight shopping and how airlines can better leverage its potential; why retailers are targeting the digital consumer and its effect on the travel industry; how customer- centric strategies are increasing inflight sales; and how carriers can better monetize

This year’s User Group Conference also revealed some trends that GuestLogix believes will define travel in 2014, including: • A rise in mobile commerce, mobile digital payments, digital codes, and NFC-ready POS terminals will make mobile a strong sales channel for the travel industry.


• How self-service and automated shopping experiences are growing in value amongst travellers.
